Laser light

Matthew (my step dad) has found a red laser and i've made use of it with a glass with a crystal surface for some fantastic effects. I have altered the colours of some of these.

Bush walk

On a walk up a mountain track from Belgrave to Ferny Creek i found a few nice shots and decided to bust out the tripod and do a couple of nice long exposures.

Light painting

The first ones i'd love to attempt again with different lights. The ones we've used are from either mobile phones or kash's spotlight. The final image is a 20 - 30 second exposure of a car and i've gone ahead and painted it with his spotlight.

So many idea's come to mind! I'm excited to play with this in the future.

Water and stars

These 3 photos were taken from Kash's camera last week when we decided to experiment with two ultra low light scenario's. One being his bathroom with an ultra fast shutter speed to capture the motion of water and the only light we had access to being a flood light. It worked alright but a bit of editing to add light never hurt anybody. Next time I suggest we use a sort of tissue paper over the light to try and avoid having any harsh reflections. The other challenge i'd set for us was the night sky. Since it was incredibly dark and we'd already maxed out our shutter timer we decided to tweek the ISO. This in the higher settings and especially at night made the photo a tad grainy. With the help of Photoshop I've bumped contrast to bring attention to the stars and hide the grain on the black. Its still not perfect but it certainly looks nicer than the raw file.

Another learning experience.

Sunset from Belmont

Kash and I went to the top of Belmont tower and took a photo of the sunset. somewhat of a longer shutter and mounted on a tripod. The only issue was the telephone tower.

Ultra high shutter speed

Just toyed around with a very high shutter speed to capture myself in the air. Normal clothes just didnt cut it so i chucked on a dinosaur onesie which looked silly but still worked out. This was just another test and i'm happy with the results and with what i've learned from this.

I think next time i'll have to try and use a green-screen (maybe not dress as a green dinosaur next time) so i can alter the background and such to my liking.

First upload

I suppose it would be best to christen my new blog with some photo's i've taken. Early in the photo game but  feel as if i'm getting better, even if not i still enjoy the photos i take and i think i'll be improving a lot over the next few weeks since my friends giving me his Nikon.
These are taken with a mixture of my mobile phone, a point and shoot and my mums old digital camera (almost slr)
